Ali Doğanaksoy was born on December 22, 1955. He graduated from the Department of Mathematical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1981 and completed his master's and doctoral studies at the Department of Mathematics at Middle East Technical University. He served as a research assistant in the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences from 1981 to 1987 and as a lecturer in the same department from 1987 to 2020. Until his retirement in 2020, he worked in the Department of Mathematics and also in the Cryptography Department of the Institute of Applied Mathematics, established in 2002, contributing to the development of the department. Doganaksoy became a pioneering figure in Turkey in the fields of cryptography, randomness, cryptanalysis, and symmetric-key cryptosystems. He attracted attention with his work that shaped the academic and applied development of these fields. He mentored more than fifty theses, contributing to the training of numerous researchers and academics. The students he mentored contributed to scientific and technological advancements in Turkey and internationally. Doğanaksoy, who has undertaken various expert roles within his areas of expertise, has also made significant contributions to the field of national security through his consulting services to public institutions. He has created qualified employment opportunities through projects he has implemented by building bridges between academia and industry. In addition to his scientific work, he has also supported the academic development of numerous young researchers through the mentorship he has provided to graduate and doctoral students.
